Book Review | Breath – James Nestor

Breath – James Nestor

With 40% of today’s population suffering from chronic nasal obstruction, and around 50% habitual mouth breathers, I thought it was a good enough reason to dive into Breath by James Nestor.

Nestor explores the power of breathing, delving deep into the science and history behind something so fundamental yet often overlooked. Nestor’s journey covers ancient breathing practices, modern research, and personal experiments (plugging his nose for 10 days) to reveal how breathing correctly can enhance overall health and well-being.

Nestor not only investigates various cultures and traditions that have long understood the benefits of mindful breathing, but also investigates how modern lifestyles, including diet and posture, have contributed to widespread breathing dysfunction.  For mouth breathers or anyone interested in understanding more about breathing, the book is well worth the time.
